UDIA National Awards
Industry leading sustainability initiatives at Roe Highway Logistics Park (ROE) have been recognised nationally, with Hesperia receiving the Environmental Excellence Award at the 2022 UDIA National Awards overnight in Sydney.
Awarded the Western Australian Environmental Excellence Award in 2021, ROE sets a new standard for sustainable development.
Projects entered in the Environment Excellence category have demonstrated an outstanding response to conservation and environmental sustainability through innovation. ROE is on track to become the first carbon-neutral industrial park in Western Australia and is the first to deliver a 6-star Greenstar accredited industrial facility in Western Australia.
Hesperia has placed environmental sustainability at the centre of all planning, incorporating low carbon concrete, solar power, energy optimisation strategies and Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo conservation at ROE.
Managing Director Ben Lisle said this award was a significant achievement that recognises Hesperia’s leadership approach to sustainable development and the positive influence on industrial developments.
“Our aspiration to create a new benchmark for sustainability in the industrial property sector has been a long-term project, which required significant investment in new innovations that have never been used in Western Australian industrial estate,” Ben said.
“This included extensive research and investment in state-of-the-art environmental initiatives, including our collaboration with Boral over 18 months to develop a reduced carbon emission concrete appropriate for Western Australian conditions.”
“Recognition at the national level is a high commendation for our project and sustainability team and gives us the confidence to continue on this track.”
ROE is the first industrial estate to attract investment from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), with a landmark $95 million investment to further the projects’ sustainability initiatives.
